@marramgrass where are you moving?
@marramgrass where are you moving?
@amit that's almost word for word what I told a colleague earlier this week when he asked why I was doing this
@amit I got introduced to all this last week, it's fantastic!
@macgenie that's awesome to hear. I work in the field of accessibility and if there's anything I can do or contribute I'd be happy to help
@becky My micro.blog is being fed from my blog which goes back to about 2005 but all my past posts are hidden. I'm tempted to republish them so, at the very least. my children have something to laugh at in the future
@marramgrass i think @manton mentioned it yesterday (or the day before) just fire off a mail to the help email and ask to be included
@marramgrass Minor bugs with the Sunlit beta...
@kimonostereo Whoa! Is MDM all that's left?
@craigmcclellan I know that GitHub "raw" files are served with a Content-Type header of text/plain, so Safari won't know it's a PDF (until fully downloaded at least). I can't say why they do that.
@manton do alt tags on images coming from WP posts show because aria tags definitely don't. In fairness that's hardly unusual, but would make a nice feature! 👍
@grib apparently not. Must remember to include the magic smoke next time!
@tibz I'll not tell 🤫
@tibz if you're living in IE now that might affect things too I can ask some of my colleagues if you like? My own tax situation is nuts, I live in and am employed by a UK but work in their Dublin office. I have to pay Irish tax on £ which I then deduct from UK tax calculations 🤪
@tibz it always felt like I was scamming someone when I'd expense a coffee I had with a new client or mileage to attend a meetup but it's really all about offsetting. You use your resources for work which you get taxed on, then you buy more resources and get taxed on the purchase
@tibz I'm not 100% sure about tax details in IE, as I was self employed in UK, but I was advised to consider my own software and hardware purchases (at least for a percentage of their use) when doing tax returns
@tibz part of the art of being self employed is knowing what exactly can be classed as an expense, especially for tax purposes
@colinwalker then again I'm coming at this totally new and with my head full of EPUB, DPUB and the plethora of ARIA and A11Y discussion we're having there and I could just be wrong
@colinwalker I know what you're saying and I agree for the most part but the mixture of mf2 and new post kinds at indieweb.org/posts makes me think aria-label would be a perfect fit to describe jams, likes, eats etc. alongside h-entry
@grib for example I created functions for Post Kinds to prepend an accessible emoji onto post content instead of using text or icon. I think that's more semantic, but the aria-label on the post is stripped out by feed clients
@manton @solari @kitt I “like" that approach, for lack of a better word
@jamesshelley well said!
@solari I tried crossposting from my blog, but it felt pointless. micro.blog led me to read about POSSE and support for webmentions and micropub mean I can cross post/comment/like now from my blog and still have community engagement without lock-in
@solari best practice would be reading the micro.blog help files first; advice I should have followed. It helped me get a better understanding of what the service is and how it's more than just another Twitter or App.net
@furstenberg for a lot of TV shows the Incomparable recaps are the most enjoyable part, but Discovery is so good 🖖🏻
@tibz that's a great spot. The Lighthouse Cinema is fantastic and there's great coffee nearby at Proper Order
